The description “an experimental fantasy film”, though accurate, doesn’t sufficiently portray the visual feast that is created in Solipsist. Director Andrew Huang crafts a lush visual landscape through the use of costumes, make up and some stunning graphic effects. Using the philosophical idea, ‘solipsism’ (the idea that only one’s own mind is sure to exist) as a sort of stimuli or reference point for the work, Huang develops a visually stunning world, reminiscent of some LSD fuelled fantasy.
